Our main activity for the time prior to working yesterday was another lunch with our friends, Scott and Valerie, at the Lift. They came to Jackson to discuss working opportunities at the lodge for next year. Following a discussion about our duties at the front desk and the heavy computer emphasis on the duties, they decided to pass on the lodge as a prospective employer. They just recently began their computer usage on a regular basis and just don't feel comfortable yet about their skills level. They decided to take some time while in town to explore other workamping opportunities in this area since they still would love to come here, at least for one year. Below is a shot of them as we were winding up our lunch at 1:30 yesterday:
There is featured story about them in the upcoming issue of Workamper News Magazine with a photo of them on the cover. We will be anxious to receive that issue and see the article. We also plan to visit them at their current work location at the Bridge Bay store in Yellowstone before they leave in early September.
The weather is turning sour again and the next week has the forecast for rain in the 40 - 80% chance range on each day. I checked the same period last year and we ran into the same kind of pattern during the same week in August. All that will do is to keep our plans focused on indoor activities which take away our chances for any biking or hiking during that period. With time running out on our season, we hate to see opportunities go away...
