Back Home Again

We were all up bright and early yesterday AM and it didn't take very long to get everything loaded into the Jeep, have a quick breakfast in the hotel and check-out to head home. Here is one final shot of Harmony before leaving the room and taking her home:

We left the area to head home at almost 6:30 AM local time, and headed south on I-5 to begin the marathon drive home. As we were driving along the Columbia River in Oregon, we spotted another forest fire. This one was creeping toward I-84 and we got a few good shots, but this one is the closest:

So, there were fires burning in both WA and OR and the ones we saw were only a couple of the total fires burning in these states.

The weather was much better on the trip home and we had sunshine all the way until we reached Pocatello, ID, about an hour and a half from home. There was a huge thunderstorm moving through the area and we raced to get out of the area. There was about a 5 mile stretch that we drove through heavy rain.

Just as we were leaving the Idaho Falls area, we got this nice shot of the sunset that was even more beautiful following the storm we left behind:

Our total drive for the trip amounted to over 1800 miles. That's a lot of driving on the two travel days, but was well worth the time we spent with Harmony. She is having a big birthday party today with all her friends and we were happy to spend the time we did to celebrate her birthday with her.

We are thankful that we made the trip safely and arrived home at 9:45 PM last night. It felt good to sleep in a little bit this morning as we head back to work at 3 PM this afternoon...
