Springs of El Cajon

It was super busy at work yesterday with 9 tours scheduled and a brunch special event. We didn't get any move-ins but we moved some people closer to signing that will eventually become residents.

We left work nearly an hour after our scheduled end of day and didn't get on the road to the Springs of El Cajon until 5 PM. It wasn't a very long drive - less than an hour - but it was also Sunday and there wasn't much traffic.

We arrived at the office and met Elizabeth - one of the co-managers - and then Kathy - one of the managers. They gave us the key to our apartment and introduced us to the kitchen staff since they were beginning the coffee and tea service for the super meal. We unloaded our bags in the room and headed out for a meal of our own.

At first we thought it would be great if we could eat at the local Souplantation. We drove the mile or so to get there and the line was out the door so we changed our plans. There was another of our favorite restaurants nearby - Olive Garden - so we drove another half mile to the small mall where it was located. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot we saw this nice looking Mexican restaurant - Casa De Pico:

We looked at each other and decided to give a try. It was a different kind of place with a separate entrance for the patio area:

It was very nice as you can see below:

We ordered our dinners and had enjoyed a Margarita while waiting:

It was an excellent meal and the prices were very reasonable so we were glad we discovered this unique Mexican restaurant.

Our 2 days at this community begin this morning at 7:30 AM. Our apartment is far away from the office area and there are no ecall warning devices in the apartment so we will have to rely on the beepers for notification if there is an ecall while we are on duty tonight. Our 2 days here are followed by another "floating" couple coming in for training on Wednesday morning so we head back to Vista at that time. We get to do the same thing next week while the co-managers take their vacation.

We are looking forward to another good experience in yet another one of our Holiday Retirement communities...
