Community Differences

We think that part of the reason the co-managers were being promoted and moved to another community is the fact there was very little communication between the management couples that are here. The departing co-manager (Dave), and the one that was surprised when we arrived,  gave us some instructions on opening and closing when we did the "tour" the night we arrived. The manager (Arlan) gave us totally different instructions yesterday AM and we liked those instructions better. He instructed us to close at 7:30-8 PM (vs 9-9:30 from Dave) and open the doors in the morning around 7 AM (vs 5 AM from Dave). The biggest differences are in the food and the residents.

Without a doubt, the food is inferior here than at Arcadia Place. Josie and I both had a hard time enjoying any of the food we had on our first day here. An example is the split pea and ham soup we were served last night - it contained garlic - UGH! One of the residents even commented to us that the food was "lousy" here, and she wished she could afford to move out.

The other major difference to us are the residents themselves. They seem to be more nasty here and we think that might be a result of both the food and the numerous management changes they've had here. At any rate, we will be happy to move on to a different community next week.

Since there are no alarms in the guest rooms for ecalls, the maintenance manager installed 2 baby monitors in our apartment so we would hear alarms in the office if there was an emergency. Even though we tested them yesterday, we were thankful there wasn't an ecall during the night last night.

We made the reservation to stay at the TT campground tonight and tomorrow in Menifee, and will leave work today at 3 PM to go and set up for our 2 days off. It is kind of nice to have our 2 days off on Friday and Saturday this week instead of our usual Sunday and Monday. At this point, we are also glad we changed the location for storing and using our fifth wheel from the San Diego area to Menifee. It is only about an hour from here.

It's about time to go and unlock the doors and open up for business before heading out this afternoon...
