I received the notice that our final rent payment went into the bank yesterday for deposit into our account. We are getting down to the end of our association with the property managers and with the very good tenants we have had for almost two years. All that is left now is to get the keys at the end of the month, change the locks, do the inspection and return any deposit money that is left to the tenants. We then place the home on the market and keep our fingers crossed that the sale cycle is a short one.
We still are looking at our options for "post sale" direction. It really depends on how quickly the home sells, how much money is received and when the home closes. In the meantime, we will stay here and keep looking.
With one final week remaining until Christmas, it promises to be a busy week for Josie. I will begin the computer push to organize our records for next year, including our tax data. Nobody knows what the final outcome will be with the proposed tax law changes, but whatever happens, I'm sure that the TurboTax software will be able to handle them. I have had excellent experience with that method for doing our taxes and see no reason to worry about it for this year. The timing is good for our rental to end at the end of this year as we will not have to deal with those tax implications next year...
