Set To Go Now

We made the decision yesterday to take the opening they had at Amazon that starts on Saturday, Nov 2. Yep, that's tomorrow. It starts with orientation at 1 PM which goes for 5-5.5 hours, and we begin our regular schedule on Sunday the 3rd and work through Wed the 6th. The schedule is for 7:30 to 6 PM, Sun - Wed each week and will be in the "Picking" department which will be new to us, although familiar. We know a lot about picking as when we were "stowing" in Campbellsville, KY years ago, we were working in the same area that the "pickers" work. We will be walking about 10-15 miles per day within the warehouse while locating items and placing them in totes to be taken to a station where they prep for shipping. I hope we can handle that. The choice was made to accept that job so that we didn't get stuck with something worse next week. Our only mistake was applying when we did (late) as most of the better jobs have already been assigned. We can always request a transfer to a different function if, for any reason, picking does not work out for us. We are happy to be working though, and Amazon is a good place to work.

I received the estimate for the truck damage/repairs from the insurance company and it is a huge joke. I took the photos and sent them in to the insurance company yesterday and their estimate came back about 40% lower than the collision shop estimate I received last week. I could go on and on about how incompetent the estimate was but let me just say that any person physically working with the estimate from the insurance company would have to be from a different planet. Some of the repairs they estimated to be 12 minutes in labor that involved removing and repairing items underneath the wheel well that would take twice that long just to remove and reinstall without repair. Anyway, I'm still fighting that battle and can't wait to switch insurance companies again. What a mistake it was to go with Progressive. They need to spend more money on customer service and less on Flo!

We hope to enjoy our final day off today in some decent weather.

Oh, and we had zero kids last night for trick-or-treat...
