Doing Glen Canyon

I still cannot get any of our photos downloaded for the blog entries. Please bear with me until we get to an area where we have decent internet and can get them downloaded. We have some great photos to share from some real nice places that we visited. We are so glad that we allowed an extra day for this area.

Yesterday, we visited the Horseshoe Bend area and hiked two miles, round trip, to get the views overlooking this beautiful section of the Colorado River. That officially kicked off our hiking season as it was not an easy hike up some hilly country and through some fairly deep sand in some areas.

We followed that with a visit to Lone Rock which is a neat area where there is a nice sandy beach and is an area where folks can pay a fee and camp right on the sandy beach.

Our next stop was at the Glen Canyon Dam and the Carl Hayden Visitor Center. We also drove around the town of page where we have never been before. The highway doesn't pass through the town, so the only way o see it is to take the side road into town. It is an interesting town that has one street with all the churches - we saw every denomination of church, all side by side in a two block section of town. It must be an extremely congested area on Sundays.

Today, we travel about 230 miles to Salina, UT, where we will stay in the Butch Cassidy Campground. I hope we can get some photos published from there...
