Day 1 Travel to Utah

Our departure from our campground yesterday was delayed a bit with a long conversation with our neighbor who we became good friends with during the season. They are headed to Texas and will return next season. Even with the long conversation, we pulled out of our space at 9:15 AM.

It was not a perfect day for travel These shots were taken as we drove along the road out of our campground to head south:

We had some rain along the way, but not enough to delay our travel. The real rain came during the night last night.

There was a surprise when we arrived at our site in Deer Creek State Park in Heber, UT, at about 3 PM. There was another rig in our reserved space. Somebody had taken our space instead of his own assigned space next to ours. He asked if we would mind switching with him, as he had been there for three days. Our answer to him was no - our RV was about 8 feet longer than his, and our reserved space was larger. He wasn't very happy that we made him move, but we reserved our space for a reason and he had no right to be there anyway. He moved, and we are in our same space that we reserve each time we stay in this park:

Our travel today will be to Moab, UT, and is a total of 218 miles. We will stay there for two days and visit the two National Parks - Arches and Canyonlands. It is a visit that we have been looking forward to for many years...
