Quiet 4th of July

This year there were no holiday breakfasts, parades or fireworks to celebrate the Fourth. Instead, we made good progress again in emptying boxes and getting some things put away in the house.

Among other things yesterday we installed the sun shade on our back patio to help keep the hot sun off the patio furniture in the afternoons. It is kind of a disappointment as the shade doesn't go all the way to the ground, nor does it go completely across the patio width. It does help though, and it definitely keeps the sun off the back windows and will result in savings of electric for the air conditioner. We didn't buy the top of the line shade but it will do for now.

We hung some pictures and Josie placed more goodies around the top of the kitchen cabinets so the house is beginning to looked lived-in. We are at the point now where most of the necessary things are unpacked and we are trying to find places to put things that are not required but help to decorate the home. It's crazy how we can go from a 400 SF house (our fifth wheel) to completely filling a 2200 SF home and still have boxes of stuff left over. Yes, the time has come to find a way to get rid of lots of belongings that are just not needed any longer...
