Aside from the normal, busy routine at work, our thoughts are turning to October. Officially, our last day on the job here is September 30, so we are beginning to think about a follow up plan. We have just about eliminated - totally - any chance of going back to Amazon to work in Fernley, NV. Our thinking is now to take the month of October to relax before attempting any other workamper activities. We are thinking that we will spend some time in southern Utah to visit Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park before heading to Mesquite, NV for at least one day, and possibly two. That is a town that always appealed to us as we were traveling through on different occasions. From there, we plan to go to Laughlin to spend at least a week. The entertainment schedule for the second week in October has the Lettermen in concert at the Riverside where we would be staying in the campground. Yes, they are old now and probably can barely sing anymore, but they bring back great memories of our youth. It is fun to think about October.
It should be mentioned that we also received a job offer from a Resort in Texas (Victoria) near the Gulf coast which had some appeal to us. It is a highly rated park that is 30 miles from the Gulf, between Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christy. They are looking for a couple to work this winter season, beginning mid October and possibly turning into a year round position. We aren't quite ready for a long term commitment.
It is getting to the track and field events in the Olympics and is probably our big chance to distance ourselves from the Chinese in the medal standings. We will be watching as much of those events as we can. Thank goodness for the DVR. We are very proud of how our athletes are performing so far and look forward to more exciting victories this weekend...
