Every year there is the motorcycle rally in Sturgis, SD that attracts thousands of bikers. When we worked in Cody 2 years ago, this time was dominated by these bikers going to the rally and later returning to their homes. It was a time when both sides of the street in Cody were lined with motorcycles and the population grew to almost double the normal size. It's that time of the year again and we can feel the effects in Jackson. Even though we don't see the same number of bikers in town as Cody, we are seeing the impact in a different way. The tour buses that we have arriving every day have stopped for the week of the rally. The tours that we were getting every day would travel through the Black Hills area of SD where the rally is being held and Caravan - the tour company - has stopped the tours for that week. That means we are not getting any tour buses for at least a week and all the folks that came on those buses are now replaced by individual check-ins. We are still filling the lodge, but we have about 25 more individual check-ins to perform that replace those guests that were all registered with one mass check-in. It makes for more work during an already busy time.
Our week ended last night and we are ready for some fun. We talked about going to the Granite Hot Springs that we visited a couple weeks ago. This time, we would take our swimsuits and actually enjoy the dip in the pool. The weather this morning is questionable, so we will take more time to evaluate that option. This afternoon, I play golf while Josie plans to get a pedicure. Whatever we decide this morning, it is nice to relax and watch more of the Olympics for awhile...
