Our Weekend Begins

As is always the case here, we are happy to see the work week end and have some off days. This week may be a bit different since the mandatory overtime for the regular employees is actually voluntary for us. Not only that, it is scheduled for Thursday which is 1 day before our regular start. At this point, we are still undecided about working the extra day. We're very tired, but the extra money is always welcome. More on that tomorrow.

We found out that the flu shots that are offered by Amazon are free for all "blue" badge employees, which we are. The only people that must pay the $24 are the "white" badge employees who are regular seasonal or temporary employees. When our manager originally made the announcement a couple weeks ago, he failed to mention that and we assumed that Josie would have to pay the $24. Since we both already got our shots at Walmart last week, and it cost us $25 for Josie's shot, it was unnecessary money spent. The positive side to that is we received our shots well before the start of the flu season instead of on October 18, which is the date we would received them at Amazon. That late date is kind of close to the start of flu season and with a 2 week effective date for the shot, it cuts it kind of close. I guess we should just consider it the cost for early immunization and the convenience of getting the shots on our own schedule.

It rained again yesterday - .30" - and it is still very cool. Since the day looks gloomy again today, we'll probably stay close to home again. We received the cord for restringing the day/night shades, so I'll try to do one of those today. If it's easy, we'll end up doing all of them eventually. There a couple more that are very close to requiring new cord, so I'm hoping it's an easy job. Other than that, it looks like a good day to just rest...
