Visit From Board of Health

We were told that the Oregon State Board of Health pays a visit to the campground about every 6 months to do checks on health issues. The last time they visited was almost 6 months ago so they were due. The management take these visits seriously, as they should, since it has a lot to do with the reputation of the park. Of course, the visit from them yesterday occurred while 1) the management were off duty, and 2) the spa had been drained in the morning for its monthly cleaning. Josie and I were taken by surprise as they never announce their visits and we had to explain to him about the spa being serviced and that he probably shouldn't test it for another few hours at least. He was very accommodating and said he needed to come back in the morning anyway in order to check out our continental breakfast and kitchen area. We passed the campground area inspection with zero violations, so all that remains is the spa and kitchen this morning. The inspector commented on how clean the campground and bathrooms were and said he wished all of his inspections were this easy. That made us all feel pretty good.

Other than the inspection yesterday, it was a typical, slow day, leading up to the busy season. We suspect that we will start getting very busy the Memorial Day weekend which is about the normal time for summer seasons to start everywhere. We'll be happy to see more activity, that's for sure. Until then, we will continue to have some boring blog entries for which I apologize. The weather has been another reason for the lack of fun things to report. It just hasn't been the right "mood setting" environment for going out to explore new things or to go places where we can enjoy the area. We have a lot of catching up to do as we get closer to summer.

It's 8 till 10:30 for me today, and 10:30 till 1 for Josie. This is the day where we only work a couple hours each but waste most of the day as a result of the split schedule. This is still a good place for us and we are looking forward to the time we have ahead of us here. Until tomorrow...
