Checking Out the Beaches

The return visit by the Board of Health representative occurred around 8 AM yesterday morning. He checked the kitchen and the spa and then wrote up a glowing report of the entire operation. The only minor infraction was the bromine content of the spa (a little low) and that was so minor that it barely made a comment in the report. We are good-to-go for another 6 months until they return for another inspection.

It wasn't mentioned yesterday, but we have been having continuing problems with our DirecTV receiver that was sent to us to replace the one with the bad hard drive. After spending about an hour on the phone with DirecTV on Wednesday, they decided to send out a local technician to look at the problem - at no charge, of course. He arrived at 12:30 and within about 5 minutes was able to tell that the "new" receiver that was sent to us was a piece of crap. The TV was frozen on one channel and we were getting zero response from the remote control to do anything on the TV. He replaced the receiver - again - and it appears that everything is operating as it should - except for our power-up problem with the Samsung TV. We will take care of that problem next.

We took a drive along the Hwy 101 through Lincoln City to begin checking out beach locations. The best we've found so far in the Lincoln City area is one just north of our campground. We walked a short distance on it and although it was cool, we could see that it would be a possibility for summer use. We took a couple shots that are below:

The first one looks north on the beach and the second one is looking south. You can see the Inn at Spanish head on the left which is where we went the other day, and is directly across the street from our campground. There are many more beach access locations that we need to check out, but it is fun looking at the differences.

We are off today and will probably figure out a good place to go to take advantage of the improving weather. It's amazing what a little sunshine will do to put you into an exploring mood. So far, it is clear outside today, so let the fun begin...
