18 Days and Counting

It was a beautiful, warm sunny day yesterday - until about 8 PM last night. The rain came back, along with the wind, to keep the consecutive days of measurable rain alive at 18 days. The streak will reach at least 19 days since it has rained .14" already today. At least we had some sunshine during the day. I watched the Masters on TV most of the day until we decided to go across the street and check out the beach access at the Inn at Spanish Head. This is a 10 story hotel with all but the top 2 floors under the lobby. The hotel is built on a rugged cliff and you have to take an elevator down to the 1st floor where you can walk out to the beach. The beach is not the best that we've seen along the coast. Below are 2 pictures we took. The first one shows the hotel with the beachfront rooms looking north:

You can see why the hotel has all its floors above the beach. The second picture is of the beach, looking south:

It is pretty obvious from these shots that the beach is better for walking than for swimming. There was large driftwood everywhere up and down this section of beach. Also, the sand along this hotel was not white and nice to sit on or to set up a spot to swim. We had to check out this particular section of beach since it is the closest to our campground and accessible just across the street. There are many other nice places that aren't too far away that are great for swimming and good for kids to play. We plan to evaluate all the spots so we will know the best locations when we have visitors this summer.

It's back to work today - long day, at that. I hope to sneak away occasionally to catch up on the final round at the Masters. We have a TV in our kitchen area where we have the continental breakfasts each morning. I'll be cheering for Phil Mickelson, even though Tiger is lurking just a couple shots back. We will not be cheering for him again anytime soon since his "real" character was exposed some months back. Anyway, have a great day...
