Learning the Routines

It was an uneventful day for Josie at the flower shop except that they can now see what she can do and she was complemented on her skills. There was no excitement over famous people yesterday but there are days when that happens. She has off today with her shop being closed and it's back to work tomorrow.

My day was an educational one. There were several problems that had to be fixed at various sites: water backing up in bath rooms (toilets), electrical boxes that failed and had to have the components replaced, dispensed some propane, and one site complained because their rented trailer was not level so we checked that out. It must have been her pillow because the trailer checked out as being level. The big job for me yesterday was tearing down the old backstops in the horseshoe pits. They were about 25 years old and were rotting badly, so we need to rebuild those. I'm learning a lot just spending time with the supervisor, Leo, who was a builder in his "real" working days. One advantage to this job is that because it is so physical, it makes it easier to lose weight. That's something I needed to do for awhile.

I had a phone call yesterday from Chi Chi at Happy Jack asking about our new jobs and discussing next year. We are still leaning toward going back there if nothing better comes up. It would be nice if this works out for us this year so we can be invited back next year. Winter is always the toughest season to find work and this is certainly a desirable area. We'll see. We would like to try new areas and do different things wherever we Workamp, but the number one priority is to have work.

Josie gets a chance to relax today while I play with "the boys" in maintenance. We'll see what new and unusual stuff happens today and will let you know tomorrow...
