Familiarization, Post Office and Costco

Yesterday was spent mostly getting familiar with the area and setting up our mail. We went to the post office in Thousand Palms - the closest one to Thousand Trails - and asked them how to set up mail in general delivery. It was easy. We just have everything addressed to us with general delivery and the post office city and zip code. No forms to fill out. It is 6 miles from here and on the way to Josie's work in Palm Springs.

We then went to the Western Horizon Park in Indio to check out the location and the park. It is actually nicer than where we are except it is not as convenient to I-10 or Palm Springs. The spaces are nicer, larger and mostly grass.

Our next stop was to Home Depot to get some miscellaneous stuff like oven cleaner for the grill, a quick connect adapter for our water hose and some lime away to clean off mineral deposits around the faucet. This is a good opportunity for us to catch up on those kind of "do it later" chores. It turns out that the Home Depot is across the street from Costco, Sam's Club and Walmart. Neat. We went to Costco and had a hot dog and drink for $3. It's probably the first time we went to a Costco and didn't leave with a cart full of stuff.

I went to the Administration Office and spoke with the park manager about member workers and Workamping. She indicated that they were looking for a maintenance person and she gave me an application which I will turn in today. That would solve our problem of moving around and also give us a steady income until Spring.

This morning we are having breakfast at the lodge. Nothing else is planned right now so we'll play it by ear...
