There were a couple problems that surfaced when we arrived. First, there are two exams (not one) that are available. A DOT (Department of Transportation) exam and a Recreational Vehicle exam. We decided that the exam we were intended to take was the DOT exam. The RV exam only covered containers in an RV which are not the only containers we will be filling. Anyway, the book that we were given to use as our study guide was the wrong book. It has been replaced by two books which we had never seen before.
We were instructed on the rules of the exam, given the "new" books for the open book test, informed on other rules and taken to the exam room where we started at 9:15 for the two hour exam. There were 33 questions. I scored a 94 (miracle), and Josie just missed the passing grade of 75 by scoring a 71. It was amazing that she had done that well as she had never before been exposed to any of this propane language or processes, with hardly any study time at all. We both must take the class and she gets to try again to pass the exam - within the next couple months. I received a temporary certification until my card arrives at the office within ten days.
We left the facility and headed home. There was one stop in a nice town - Lockhart, TX, where we spotted this beautiful building from the freeway:
It is the Caldwell County Courthouse.
Across the street from the Courthouse was a nice Café - Market Street Café and Apothecary - where we had an excellent lunch:
We also stopped in Victoria to check out the Mall which is the closest one to us:
It was a long, long day and we have our first day off today. We heard from Doug and Dana last night and we are meeting for lunch today to chat about our first week. It should be a very interesting meeting...
