We stopped at one rest area during the day:
and then continued for the rest of our 280 mile trip for the day. We did stop at the last rest area on I-10 before arriving in Boerne, TX, to connect with Roger and Sue by phone to schedule our get together.
They arrived at our site at the Top-of-The-Hill RV Park in Boerne at about 2:30 PM which was probably a half hour after we arrived at the park. They are staying in Fredericksburg, TX, about 30 miles from us, while they work the month of February on a Habitat for Humanity home which they often volunteer for during the winter months.
We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful day at our picnic table:
before heading down the street for an early dinner at a place called Popo's. We had no idea how good it would be, but it turned out be an excellent choice. Below is a photo of the very unusual interior of the restaurant which was filled with thousands of plates that the owners had collected over the years:
It was a steak, seafood and chicken restaurant, and we all ordered the grilled chicken which was a great choice.
Here is the shot taken by our server:
Following our meal, we all came back to our rig for coffee and more conversation:
It was 8 PM before they left, and it was a terrific time - as usual - with two of our very best friends.
Well, today is our final travel day. We plan to leave by 9 AM this morning to drive the final 175 miles to Port Lavaca. We expect to arrive at our destination by early afternoon. We are, to say the least, very excited about our new opportunity...
