Yesterday was the day that we finally got the carpets cleaned. We went to Albertsons and rented the Rug Doctor for a day and also picked up the proper cleaning liquid for the job. It took from about noon to almost 4 PM to do the job which was our entire RV inside - the living area and upstairs bedroom area. It doesn't sound like much, but let me tell you, that rug cleaner wears you down. It isn't the lightest piece of equipment on earth and both Josie and I were plumb tuckered out at the end of the day. These two shots give you some idea of the job:
It was another tough job moving all the furniture out of the way to do sections at a time. We have a tower fan that we used to help dry the areas quickly and it did a fine job. The carpet looks fantastic and the total job only cost $54 for the equipment and cleaner. We were fortunate to get a brand new machine that had never been used before and it worked like a charm.
We also took care of the final items that were outside - rolled up the outside carpet and packed away the chairs to get ready for the trip. It can rain all it wants to now and we are ready. With only three days left, we feel we are in good shape unless something unexpected happens or we discover something we overlooked. The Rug Doctor goes back this morning and we will shop for our food to take on the trip to eat during the drive each day...
