Long Day in DC

I watched the proceedings in Washington yesterday until about 3 PM, and again last night for awhile. It was in stark contrast to all of the previous Inaugurations I have seen. Of course, this is the first where a non-politician was sworn into office. It was a wonderful day for Donald Trump and his beautiful family. The Obamas went out gracefully and are vacationing now in Palm Springs. Even though there were protests in the streets and around the country, none of them overshadowed the events of the day. The task is monumental for President Trump and I hope he is able to fulfill his promises.

It was very evident yesterday during the proceedings that President Trump has a lot to learn in the way of political protocol. There were several occasions where he fumbled and looked confused while performing certain Presidential tasks. The big one was his first signing of Executive Orders (for his Cabinet nominations) where he didn't realize that a different pen was used for each, individual signature. I'm sure those kinds of things will eventually become automatic as he gains experience. None of us ever enter a new job knowing everything from the start.

I was particularly happy to hear him adhere to his promise of emphasizing the role of the people in his administration while taking away the political self gains that have been the norm in this country. It is going to be a rough road for him, at least in the beginning, but he appears to have the tools to make it succeed. May God bless his Administration...
