First Fire of Season

It seems like every summer that we have been in Wyoming we get at least one forest fire to cast a haze over the area. This year's fire came early, as we have one about 20 miles from our location. There was so much smoke/haze in the area that we could barely see the mountains on our way to work. The wind changed direction in the afternoon, and by the time we got off work at 5:15, it had mostly cleared out. The news we had before leaving work was that the fire had grown during the day, but it doesn't look like we will get any smoke with the current wind direction. We do know that the area of the fire is one we like to visit - the Granite Hot Springs area - where the scenery is beautiful. Below is a shot of the fire in the distance as we traveled home:

I dropped Josie off at work yesterday AM and I took my hearing aid into town to have it rechecked and serviced once again before going to work myself. It only worked for a short time on Thursday last week, and this was the first opportunity to take it back. I hope they can fix it without having to send it away for about a week. I really miss it already.

The final word of the day is a not too happy one, as Mark's father passed away yesterday. He was suffering from a  long illness, but our thoughts and prayers are with Mark and his family at this difficult time...
