Takedown

Of course, the first item of business yesterday was to get the flat repaired on the Jeep. We went to the Discount Tire store on Happy Valley Road in Peoria, and we were out of there in less than an hour. We ended up getting two new tires - replacing the one that was flat and another that had borderline wear in order to have peace of mind while traveling. It wasn't an anticipated expense, but one that that we felt was important.

The main activity was the takedown of our site. It took us the major part of the day as we had to take the fabric off the gazebo:

Pack up all the cushions from the furniture and load them all in the shed. A final cleaning of the site using our blower capped off the project:

This is what our site looks like now and how it will appear while we are gone this summer:

There may be some minor adjustments that we might have to make to the covers, but for the most part, we feel that everything is secure and will make it through any storms. The only thing that would create a problem is if there would be a severe monsoon storm or "haboob" occur. We even sprayed home defense around the area to prevent insects from building nests under the covers. That probably wouldn't stop varmints, but we'll have to take the chance.

Everything is about ready now, so it is a relief to have all the outside work done. We will get to work on finishing up the inside and then we have an appointment at 11 AM for Josie's Endoscopy. We will wrap up the day by picking up George and Cheryl and going to Macayo's Mexican Restaurant in Surprise for a farewell dinner. The final activity for tomorrow will be to get our vehicles gassed up and ready to go...
