Unusual Assignment at Work

Before getting into yesterday's activities, I wanted to show a picture of a bird that has been driving us crazy:

Now, we love animals and the sound of birds chirping in the morning is always a welcome sound. This bird though, chirps incessantly, all day long. It sits in the exact same spot all day in the tree just outside our rig and chirps away until you feel like plugging your ears. Maybe he is a friend or relative that has been reincarnated and is just visiting us to say hello (?).

Yesterday had a bit of a surprise for us at work. Josie was asked to stand in for the usual people that work the snack bar at the pool on the weekends. They had to go to a funeral for a close relative, so Josie got the nod:

Our snack bar is only open for the weekends (for now) and it is very busy all day long from about 11 AM until closing at 6 PM. It was a fun day for Josie and she got to work 3 extra hours for the day - a welcomed outcome. The other person standing in for the day with Josie was Paula, our Activities Director at the Resort. She is also a second grade teacher during the school year.

My day was spent performing the normal clean-up duties from the weekend: clean out the fire pits and realign all the picnic tables from the people that have departed to get ready for the next busy weekend. The other added duty was to inventory the picnic tables for boards that need to be replaced - warped or damaged. There are many, many tables that need replacement boards, so they will have to break the bank to get enough wood to repair them. I'm not sure if I will be involved in that chore to replace the boards.

Our original plan for today was to go to Williamsburg for the first time since arriving. That plan was scrubbed as a result of the weather. Yesterday was rainy, and today is forecast again for afternoon showers, so we will reschedule that trip for another day with a better forecast. We will still try to do something fun on our next 2 days off...
