Car Ready and Ho-Hum Day

It was just another ho-hum day at work for both of us yesterday. Josie did her usual "stay busy" work with very few customers in camp. Mary, of course, doesn't allow the workers to do much hands on computer work anyway. It is very frustrating for Josie to work with her since she is used to diving into the system to do reservations and other related updates in the system and Mary wants to handle everything. That means that the workers must find things to do to keep themselves busy. I spent my shift cleaning every bench in the park. My work is likewise "stay busy" kind of work during the week since everything else is ready to go for another busy weekend. My weekend security duties start tonight and I work from 8 PM till 2 AM. UGH!

We received a call that our Jeep is ready for pick up. That has to be done this morning between 8 AM and 9 AM, since Josie has to go to work at 11 AM. The bill came to $350. Yikes! I can't wait to see this gold plated hose they put in to replace the bad one. We only hope that this is the only problem we have for awhile, although as mentioned before, we haven't had any problems with the Jeep in 6 years.

The sign that the natives are restless has surfaced. Without going off on a tangent about workamping, and the benefits we have, I'll just say that one of the nice features is that if you are not totally happy where you are, you move on. If we don't get an increase in our hours soon, and if the work continues to be menial, instead of contributory, we will leave. I have sent out some feelers for other positions and have some irons in the fire. We are only looking to move further west if any change is made. The key is that it is not a prohibitive distance from here as long as the gas prices remain high. They are moving down, so that's a good sign. There are some nice places we need to visit before we would leave here, such as Williamsburg and Jamestown. We hope we get a chance to fulfill those goals. The good news is that summer jobs are much easier to find than the winter jobs. It just needs to have all the ingredients. Stay tuned for new developments...
