We spent well over one hour yesterday morning with the sellers, seller's agent and our agent, walking through the house identifying furniture that stays and furniture that goes with the sellers. Most of the furniture, with the exception of a couple of favorite chairs and the TV's will stay with the house and become ours. There are only a few of the pieces that we are interested in keeping for ourselves and the rest will be sold at an estate sale to be arranged following the closing on the house.
Our plan is to conduct the estate sale as soon as possible after closing and use the proceeds to complete the rest of the air freshening tasks we face. By painting the entire interior of the home, getting the floors professionally cleaned and having the vents all cleaned should go a long way in removing the offensive cigarette odor. The biggest problem now is the timeframe to accomplish all of this. We will need to get a realistic close date as soon as possible in order to be able to schedule everything and still get our furniture moved into the house and get ready for a summer in Jackson - if we can. We also have the issue with the fifth wheel. If we keep it, we will have to have it shipped to Jackson, and shipped back in the Fall. Not a great option. If we stay here, we have no place to store the RV as of now. We cannot trade it on anything else until after the house closes which adds to the time frame to get everything done.
If we can get an early May closing on the house we should be able to get everything else done if we do proper planning. With all of this going on in early May, Josie has the Mother's Day marathon at the flower shop. I guess I will be handling almost all of the tasks myself. I will certainly be looking forward to the end of all of these activities...
