Most of the day yesterday was spent following up with our realtor and the mortgage processor regarding the problem with the owner of the home we are attempting to purchase. It seems that the consensus is that it will take this guy a lot longer than 30 days to clean up his act and get the lien removed from the title on the house. For that reason, we reluctantly made the decision to give the other realtor a 'Cure" notice and withdraw from the purchase of the home and get our deposit back. We still have to eat the cost of the inspection - $315 - but that's the way it goes. We were able to stop the appraisal before another $400 was added to our loss.
We located three other homes that recently came on the market that we wanted to take a look at following Josie's day at work. There was another home in the same area as the one we wanted in Glendale - not quite what we are looking for - and a couple others that are in Peoria. Both of those were possibilities and we especially like one that is about a mile from the home we were having built. We may make a move on that one today.
The problems that were created by the failure of the last home are numerous. We will have to extend our stay here at the resort, reschedule furniture deliveries and perhaps put another deposit on those, pay for another month at our storage unit and reschedule that move. Whoever thought that buying a house would turn out to be such a problem...
