The monsoon season is definitely here. The mornings dawn clear and bright with no wind. By the afternoon, around 1 PM, you can see the storms forming. One of the staff members that lives here year round said that you can see these storms forming from the lodge, but because of its location relative to the Rim, we seem to avoid most of them. Such was the case yesterday. We saw lightening in the distance but heard no thunder, had only moderate wind and no rain whatsoever. He said that this phenomenon was a result of a point in the Rim that causes the winds and storms to skirt the lodge. I don't know about that - we'll see. Today is clear and bright and calm also but we will most likely see the storms develop again in the afternoon.
Yesterday was uneventful at work and we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon watching the storms go around Happy Jack. Today is our first day off this week and we plan, at least for the first day, to just stay close to home and do some reading and organize some things in the fifth wheel. We may decide to take a drive into flagstaff later since we still have an issue to resolve with Verizon that we can't seem to fix via telephone.
More later...
