Smooth Transfer

We arrived at the RV storage area at Lake Pleasant a little before 8:30 AM yesterday for the trip to Mesa. I climbed up on the roof to do a better job of securing the wires that ran from the satellite dish on the front6 of the rig to the back. Then the real test began. We hitched the fifth wheel to the truck, put away all of the blocks and wheel covers, and headed out to Mesa and the Robert Crist dealership. This is the way it looked:

On the road again!!

The trip to Mesa was excellent. We averaged 12.5 mpg for this first trip. That is much better than the best mileage we ever got with the previous setup. Of course, the fifth wheel is much lighter now as we have emptied most of what we had and placed everything in the house. It handled well and the performance was flawless, even though we don't have the dual wheels any longer on the truck.

Following the disconnect at the dealership, we reviewed all of the items that needed repair and we left the rig with the service department and will await their estimate.

Our next stop was at Denny's where we had some lunch, and then we stopped at a nice active adult community that advertised some specials in a magazine we saw while eating at Denny's. It is yet another option for folks that want a winter base in Arizona.

It was a very good day and we are happy that everything worked out with the fifth wheel transfer. Now, we need to get some very good - and low - estimates on the  repair work so we can move forward on that phase of our plan...
