Setting Up

Most of the day was spent doing chores and setting up more things for the long term stay. We needed to replace our sewer hose and connections as the old ones were beginning to leak - a no-no everywhere. We went to the local RV dealer in Surprise, Orangewood RV, where they have a very complete parts store that has all RV goods at a decent price. It is a dealership that sells mainly Montana fifth wheels and we shopped there before we purchased our Doubletree Mobile Suites, so we are familiar with the store. We also purchase our propane tanks from them when they need refilling.

We called our mail forwarding service in FL and gave them this address. We also called the AZ Republic and started delivery here. One issue that wasn't resolved yet was the transponder issue to get us in and out of the other gates at Happy Trails. We contacted Rett (owner of our space) and he will be sending all the required info to the HOA office this morning. Hopefully, we will get the transponders today.

The issue with the porch is resolved - temporarily. It is a much too nice feature to ignore and not use in some way, even though it was custom built for another fifth wheel. We set the porch to the rear of our rig, even with the slideout, so that we could utilize it as a standalone porch. We have to walk around to the stairs at the rear of the porch, but it is worth the extra effort. You can see in the photos below how it is now set up and also notice that it has a sun shade which is very handy at this location:

It almost looks like it is part of our fifth wheel as we look out the side windows at this nice seating area. Rett indicated that he would attempt to make a better fit for the porch when he arrives here in late November. So for now, we will enjoy it as it is.

Today, we will continue with other items we need to address - such as renewing my drivers license and taking care of the transponder issue. We are still avoiding the storage issue right now as that will be a tough one to coordinate given the extra space in CA that we need to consolidate with this one. Ugh...
