Josie had her MRI in the morning as scheduled. We won't have any update on those results for probably a week or so. The main news is that we sent an email to the Virginian Lodge cancelling our participation for at least this year.
It actually became an easy decision for us as we continued to receive updates from our friend Donna about how disorganized and how incompetent the new management team is at the Lodge. At this point in time, the Lodge is without most front desk workers needed to conduct business during this upcoming busy season. It would be a disaster with all trainees - except for Donna and ourselves. Coupled with the fact that the new managers gave away our "best" RV space to Campground workers, the decision became an easy one. The retired Operations Manager - Jim Triplett - generated an excellent reference letter for us yesterday from his home in St George, UT. He actually predicted that the wheels would fall off after he left because he knew that his replacements were not qualified to handle the pressure. We thought it best to get out when we did.
There are several opportunities that we are pursuing. One very good match in Golden CO went away as a result of an early starting date that we could not accommodate. There are two very good ones that we are negotiating now - one is in Cody at the Buffalo Bill Village where we worked in 2010 and 2011. The other one is in Montana, ten miles north of the North Gate at Yellowstone which is a smaller operation and one that is very different from what we have worked in the past. It is a campground and Hostel located on the Yellowstone River.
There should be a much clearer direction by the end of today. At any rate, we will miss the Jackson area for now, but who knows - we may return someday when things improve at the Lodge or there becomes another opportunity in town...
