After discussing several other workamper opportunities in Colorado, Montana and California, we are heading back to Cody in May. There were some very good opportunities that didn't work out for us as a result of early starting dates that we could not meet. We will start in Cody around May15, which gives Josie a chance to fulfill her commitment at the flower shop for Mother's Day. We will head out immediately following her last day which will probably be Monday, the 9th.
This will be the second time we have worked at the Buffalo Bill Village in Cody. The first time - in 2010 - was one of our favorite gigs. We love the town, we love the owners, we love the campground convenience and we are happy with the working conditions. This time, we both will be working in Room Preparation (not housekeeping) which is totally new to us. The last time, Josie worked the Gift Shop and I worked the Front Desk. The new experience will be good for us.
It appears to us now that our friend, Donna, is one of the few people left at the Virginian Lodge. We can't imagine how they are going to do business with most of the staff moving on to other opportunities as a result of their management changes. Another staff member resigned yesterday. We really do hope that things get straightened out there, as we would like to go back someday after the smoke clears, if we are still doing the traveling and workamper lifestyle.
Our tenant had a successful move-in yesterday and we are told by the property manager that their goal is to buy the house in a couple years if we will be willing to sell it to them. The sister of one of the tenants lives across the street - in the house where we made our first offer in the neighborhood. It looks like some good will come of that failed offer after all...
