Our earlier start (May 15) in Cody has ruled out a pre-work trip to Washington to visit our family there. We had originally planned to spend about a week visiting grandkids and Kristine prior to starting work in Jackson around the 22th of May. There is no trip to Washington in the current schedule, and may not be in the cards until after our summer work commitment. The problem with that is that when we get into October, any traveling in the northern part of the country is exposing us to potential snow storms. We still will drive back to our location here in Arizona following our commitment in Cody and fly to Chicago to visit Patty and her family for about a week. Perhaps we can plan a trip to Washington following that visit to Chicago sometime in late October. That would have to be another flight instead of driving at that time of the year. We'll see how things go.
Also, the last time we went to Cody in 2010 we drove there from Lincoln City, Oregon, so our trip to Cody will be a new and different route for us. I will do a detailed plan for our trip very soon so that I can see what is realistic for our travel schedule. We don't like to travel more than about 300-400 miles per day, so we have to make sure the time frame we have for the drive will work. I enjoy planning these trips and I look forward to traveling through some new countryside with beautiful scenery...
