Pretty Time of the Year

It is probably the prettiest time of the year in the desert. The flowering bushes are beginning to show their colorful flowers and the cactus are beginning to fill out with all their different blossoms. I have taken a couple photos already of the beginning of our cactus flowering, but this one shows another one that is about one or two days away from being spectacular:

I counted 75 blossoms ready to break open. I'm sure that it will be one unforgettable photo when they all open. Our neighborhood is full of other cactus that are putting on a great show and the saguaros are getting ready to bloom.

The wildflowers will all be in their glory about the time we arrive in Wyoming and we always look forward to the early hikes when we can get good photos of the colorful flowers. With all of the snow they had this year, it should be a banner year for wildflowers. That also means that the snow runoff will be greater which should produce a banner year for whitewater rafting on the Snake River. We are getting excited about returning again this year...
