Davenport, IA

It was about 9:45 when we pulled out yesterday on another perfect day, weather wise. There was very little wind and we averaged 9.6 MPG towing the trailer the 263 miles from Shelby, IA, to Davenport, IA. That's more like what we should be getting on the flat Interstate highway. Our site here is very nice:

and it is the same price - with the Passport America 50% discount - as the dump we stayed in at Sioux Falls, SD, two nights ago ($12.50). Go figure!

It was a little before 3 PM when we arrived. We went to a mall that was about 5 miles from here to get my sun glasses repaired - one of the lenses kept falling out - at an optical store there. All malls have at least one of these, right? We found a Lens Crafters and they fixed my glasses at no charge. We walked around for awhile and got home at 5 PM to relax for the rest of the evening.

Today is the last travel day and we expect to arrive at Patty's around mid-day to allow some extra time to unload things from the trailer before taking it to the storage space about 10 miles from her house. We are looking forward to spending the next several weeks there and hope to have some pictures from exciting activities with the kids - including a couple football games. It will seem strange having our "home" in storage. We aren't sure how often we will be going to the fifth wheel to grab stuff we need, but it isn't going to be that far away, so it shouldn't be a problem.

There are lots of things to do this morning to get ready, so I'll end the entry for now. Until tomorrow - from Naperville...
