Pre Qualification Letter

We were able to get a new pre qualification letter for a mortgage yesterday. All that means is that a lender has done a cursory check of your finances and doesn't see any major roadblocks to getting a mortgage for any home that falls within that price range of approval. It is a fairly good range for the homes in Sun City, but we are looking at some that are close to the limit. Unless we win the lottery, we will have to be careful in how we go about making offers on houses. We aren't even sure at this point if that is the direction we want to go. One of the biggest problems we have is to determine a time frame for closing on any property. With the contingency still remaining on our house, we don't want to jump the gun even though we feel confident that it will close on time. We have been wrong before. At any rate, the pre qualification letter is good through the middle of June.

It's hard to believe, but we are already almost half-way through March. The snowbirds will be leaving soon, and we will be turning on the air conditioners. The summers are the only part of living here that I really don't like, but until we can afford the house in Hawaii, this appears to be the best of the affordable choices. Also, Jackson is still up in the air for this year, pending decisions and activities regarding our housing situation...
