We had a particularly busy day at work yesterday - the busiest so far this season. The new season is now in full swing, and the snow runoff has created some serious problems for the area. The additional crowds will have more of a problem negotiating the roads in the area. Another road closed yesterday after the Gros Ventre Road had already closed on Tuesday.
Another section of the road:
Yesterday, the Spring Gulch Road closed as a result of the bridge being damaged:
The unusually warm weather so early in the season along with the record snowfall in the winter has resulted in the problems.
Hopefully, things will not get any worse for traveling the local roads, especially with the increase in visitor traffic. Fortunately for us, we chose this year to live in the Elk Refuge instead of the Gros Ventre Campground. Those folks have to travel a long way - out of the way - to get to town. We are located exactly 5 miles - round trip - from the Visitor Center this year. We are thankful for that lucky move...
