Even though it isn't even Halloween yet, we took some time to go through our Christmas stuff to see what we had and what we might need to get for this year - our first in the new home. We went to Lowe's to check out lights and to see the new offerings for this year. There are some nice, new lighting offerings that are new to us, if not new to the market. We will be hanging outside lights on a house for the first time in years and we also want to decorate around our plants and trees in the front of the house. I measured the length we would need to run light sets on the roof-line and along the driveway and we ended up buying some lighted candy canes for the driveway, and have our eyes set on a new roof-line set of lights that are icicles and snowflakes combined. We will buy those when we decide which set we like the best.
We also settled on where we are going to locate the Christmas tree - in the space between our family room and the eating area. This way, we can enjoy the tree more as opposed to having it in the living room where we would only see it while passing through the room to get to the front door. We have a small, 3 foot tree, that we will place in the living room/dining room area. I had forgotten how these "hidden" expenses of home ownership can accumulate.
Our second treatment for scorpions is scheduled today between 10-12. We haven't seen any scorpions at all for the last couple weeks, so they are either settling in to warmer locations or we have exterminated all of them. We hope it is the second case. Most of the tasks that we wanted to complete on the house are done which is great for freeing up some time to enjoy the holiday season...
