We left the Thousand Trails campground at 10:30 AM and a half hour later arrived at our new location. This is the campground that we started with when we arrived in Florida because it is convenient to Camping World. We checked in, but instead of going to the site, we went to Camping World and dropped off the fifth wheel for the jacks repair. It turns out that Lippert Components sent 2 jacks, so Camping World said they would replace both front jacks which was good news for us.
That left the whole afternoon for us to use for something we had been putting off for a long time. There has been a strange noise coming from the engine in our Jeep, intermittently, for the last year. We decided to finally get the problem diagnosed, so we went to the local Jeep dealer in town to have it checked. Of course, they not only found out what that problem was - a belt tensioner failing - but they came up with a half dozen other "items" that they suggested we get fixed. That's their standard mode of operation - get you in, then bilk you for everything they can get. We passed on the belt tensioner repair and everything else they suggested. We have religiously maintained the Jeep for 5 1/2 years and are confident that we can still drive without those fixes. Anyway, we have been contemplating selling the Jeep in order to eliminate the expenses associated with it. Also, Josie has been wanting to stop following me when we travel and wants to ride in the truck, so we are considering it before we do face some significant costs. It will need new tires soon, a major tune-up, brakes and possibly a new battery soon, so maybe it's time. It has almost 92,000 miles on it and it has served us well. We'll see.
Our jacks have been replaced and we hope that problem is finally behind us. We made it back to our site at 6 PM, set up, and spent the rest of the evening relaxing and watching TV. The sun is out again today but the mornings are still cool - 50 this morning. We're waiting for the warm Florida sun...
