The forecast was for some rain with a high wind warning on the coast. Starting at about noon, the rains came and the wind steadily increased all afternoon. We reached sustained winds of 40-45 MPH, with gusts to 55. As it is almost the end of May, it is not a typical storm for this time of year - so they say on TV. The storm was fierce, but it also didn't go above 60 degrees all day and the low was in the high 40's. This is winter weather. One thing I will say though, we have not had to use any air conditioning for quite some time now. It doesn't appear that we will need to use it for the foreseeable future. Sleeping is also nice and we will probably keep the blankets on the bed until July (or longer) at the rate we're going. The storm is still hanging around this morning but the winds have died down some. Our short day is today so we're happy about that.
Our dinner date with Bob & Helen, the couple mentioned yesterday, was moved from Friday night to tonight, since they suggested we try the fish & chips at the other restaurant in the casino instead of the buffet. They've been to both and they say the menu at the second restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced, and they are the best fish & chips in the area, which is something we have been craving since we arrived here. Bob & Helen aren't gamblers at all so we will take separate vehicles and Josie and I will stay for awhile and try our luck at the slots after dinner. It should be a fun evening.
Nothing else is planned for our weekend yet as we need to get a feel for what the weather is going to be like. It may be a good weekend to do inside attractions, such as the Tillamook Cheese factory tour, but we'll see...
