Do Nothing Day

The marine clouds were present in the morning when we got up so we took our time with breakfast and started watching some movies that we had recorded from our movie channels. By the time we finished watching a couple movies, it was time for the pre-race hype for the Preakness Stakes, the second race in the Triple Crown of racing. The Preakness is significant because when it is run, there is only one horse that has a chance to win the Triple Crown, and that is the winner of the Kentucky Derby. If that horse loses, of course, there will be no Triple Crown winner and the Belmont Stakes (in a couple more weeks), the last race in the series, becomes pretty much irrelevant. That is the case this year. The Derby winner, Super Saver, lost, so the interest fades.

It was nice to sit around, watch TV, and basically do nothing for a day. Once in a while we need those kind of days. The sun did come out later in the day to create the 5th consecutive day without measurable rain. This is the first stretch of 5 days since February - and before that, it was December - according to the weatherman. It really does get wet here. Rain is in the forecast for this evening, so there goes another good streak of nice weather.

Today begins our first of the 2 long days each week. I go in at 8 AM and work till 4:30, and Josie goes in at at 9:30 and works till 6 PM. With the activity beginning to pick up, the days will go a little faster. It's time to get ready...
