Wind and Rain Records

We're sure everybody is probably tired of reading about the wet weather we've been having. The fact is, it is so very different from other areas that we've been so far, it is noteworthy. I was just looking at the monthly weather chart for April and through 28 days so far, we have only had 6 days without measurable rain. How can anyone ignore those stats? There has also been only 1 day in the month where the highest wind gust has been less than 10 MPH - and that one day the high gust was 9 MPH! We also are still having high temperatures in the 50's here while the rest of the country is into the 70's - and we see that Phoenix is already in the 90's every day. The real statement about the weather is that we have yet to have our awning out. Bring on the summer!

I had a discussion yesterday with Jim, our manager, about the effects of the salt air on our rigs and vehicles. He has been here several years during this time of year and through the summers, and he suggests regular washing of the RV's and autos. He has some rust developing on some small steel parts of his rig but for the most part, there is no damage. You would think that with all this rain, the vehicles would be kept free of the salt. The problem is though, that the wind brings it right back in. We will have to pay close attention to keeping everything clean and free of salt. I plan to take our vehicles to the car wash every couple weeks and to wash down the fifth wheel at least once a month. Jim also suggested covers for the tires on the fifth wheel. We always did have covers on our other RV's but that was to prevent sun damage.

It's a short day today - 1 to 5 - before our final work day tomorrow. Tomorrow is the TV repair day so I hope we get a time from the service people so I can make sure to be here for them. Until tomorrow...
