Rain Doesn't Stop Us

There was no way we were going to avoid the rain yesterday. With a 60% chance, it was going to arrive no matter what. We still put together a plan to have an early dinner - or late lunch - with our friends to try and beat the storm.

We went to pick them up at their campground at 2 PM. They were in the middle of conversing with American Express about a screw-up with their schedule after they arrive home in Florida near the end of the month. Anyway, it was about an hour before they got things resolved and we could head out for our planned meal together. This shot was taken of Josie and Eileen while Ed was talking on the phone with American Express:

That is their R-Pod and tow vehicle in the background that they purchased about a year ago to travel to Alaska.

Our original plan was to go to the Jackson Lake Lodge in the Park and sit out on the back patio at the Blue Heron Grill and have dinner. We arrived there at around 3:30 PM, got a nice table outside and got the menus to order our meals. That's when they informed us that the kitchen closed as a result of the incoming storm which we could see approaching from the west. End of plan for the Jackson Lake Lodge.

We then got back in the truck and drove to Jackson where we decided to have an indoor meal at Sidewinders - a restaurant we have enjoyed in the past. It rained the entire 45 minute drive. It really didn't matter at this point though, as we were planning to dine inside.

This shot was taken after we finished our meal:

The meal was actually a bit disappointing. None of us really enjoyed our food like we have at other places. I believe the chef was probably replaced since we last ate here. It was OK, but not great.

We drove them home at around 7 PM and made plans to hike the Phelps Lake today at 10 AM. They will leave tomorrow AM to head back to Florida, so we will have this one last activity before they leave....
