Great Drive to Cody

It was around 9:15 AM by the time we got everything ready and packed for our drive to Cody. It was a terrific drive that included seeing some great scenery, lots of wildlife and sunny skies. The drive through Yellowstone was through an area we haven't seen in many years - the road to the East Entrance. We only traveled this section when coming to Yellowstone from Cody while we worked there about 6 years ago. We had forgotten how beautiful it is.

We got lots of photos, some of which I had trouble downloading so will not include. However, we did get these downloaded with no problem and are enough to give you an idea of how nice the trip was.

Starting with the bison that were just walking along the side of the road, not being bothered by anything:

And the bighorn sheep that were just trying to decide where to go:

The drive from the East Entrance to Cody is about 70 miles and through some absolutely beautiful countryside. We had a problem downloading some photos from Josie's camera, but this one photo that we got is of a house that has been sitting on top of a hill in Wapiti, WY (just west of Cody) that was never completed as the couple that owns it got divorced while we were still working in Cody:

It is quite a place.

We finally arrived in Cody at around 2 PM:

Our first stop was at the Walmart where we picked up some water and snacks before heading to our hotel. The downtown area has not changed much at all:

It is a great town to walk around. We made it to the Buffalo Bill Village:

Our room is actually one of the cabins we rented while working at the Buffalo Bill Village. Here are a couple shots of our small, but very efficient, cabin room:

We then spent the afternoon and evening walking around town and reminiscing about the times we had years ago in this terrific town. We finally stopped at the Silver Dollar Sports Bar and had a nice dinner - beer (2)  and burger for the tidy sum $25.56, including tip:

It was fun watching the people walk along the street while eating and also watching the locals enjoy what probably has become almost a daily routine for them after work each day.

We head home later today but plan to eat breakfast at the Holiday Inn next door before leaving.

We are so glad that we decided to make this trip...
