Our June Winter

Since we had tickets to ride the Tram in Teton Village yesterday, and since the weather was not going to improve, and since it was the final day we could ride for free, and since it was our day off - we took a chance that we might get a weather break. We had lunch at the nice restaurant at the base of the Tram - RPK3 - while waiting for a break in the weather. We didn't get a break in the weather by the time we finished lunch so we attempted to get another ticket for a better day. No luck. The ticket we had would be the only "free" one. So, we opted to take the ride.

It is always a fun ride on the Tram where you can look for wildlife while rising up the side of the mountain to the 10,500 foot level. Below are some shots we took on our ride.

This is the car we rode as it came into base:

The ride was through some high winds which caused the car to sway a bit and it was through snow all the way to the top:

It was tough getting photos from the Tram car as the windows were wet from the snow and rain mix.

We arrived at the top and it felt like we stepped off the car into a blizzard. It was 52 degrees at the bottom, 37 degrees at the top with howling winds:

There was a shed/store at the top where hot beverages and a small menu of hot food was available:

I ordered a hot chocolate for Josie and I had a hot cider.

There wasn't much you could do in those conditions, so we went to the station and waited for the next Tram to take down:

It is a shame that the weather wasn't better so that we could better shots of the Jackson Hole area. This is about the best shot we could get:

Maybe we will get another opportunity to take the Tram during the summer. It doesn't matter though, as we have been on this trip before. This one was very different from any other - Winter on June 7.

Following our Tram adventure, we went to a Taco Party in the evening that one of our coworkers was having at her rental house. It was a very good time and closed out an unusual kind of day.

Our final day off for the week is today and, as the weather still stinks, we will try to do something in spite of the late winter...
