End of a Long Association

Josie's ten year stint with the Phoenix Flower Shops came to an end yesterday. They were very accommodating for those years allowing her to work seasonally and also full time on occasion. The biggest problem with that organization was that they didn't believe in giving raises to employees - ever. In ten years, Josie had zero pay increases, and she was not alone. That is now history.

We now have the full week to prepare for our guests next Friday. In the middle of the week - Mon thru Wed - we expect to equal, or break high temperatures for the dates. It will be between 110-116 each of those days. Let's get those out of the way so we can enjoy some outside time in more reasonable temperatures. Actually, none of the summer temperatures in this part of AZ are ever reasonable for outside activities.

We were awakened this morning by another monsoon storm. There was lots of lightening but not much rain. We are still getting these storms as I write this entry. Supposedly, we will not get these storms during the high heat period next week. These shots were taken this morning as the crews still had to get their work done, monsoon storms or not:

Thankfully, these storms tend to cool things down, at least for awhile...
