Killed the Deal

Our deal on the house played out about the way we expected. The list of requested repairs, as previously noted, was extensive. It also included some items that were "must do" for us. The response from the sellers was a joke. They offered to credit us $500 at closing to do all the repairs ourselves. That doesn't even cover the range/oven replacement that was on the list, let alone many more items that would require a plumber, an electrician, a flooring expert and a general handyman. Our response to the sellers was that we cancelled the deal.

As we anticipated this outcome, we are already going to begin the replacement process with a visit to a home this morning. This one is a bit larger and has been substantially upgraded so it will be a much different and better situation. It is more money but will save us lots more in the long run. All of the folks involved in the previous house - agent, mortgage company and title company - are all ready to move forward with another home.

We will take photos of our visit this morning and report the status tomorrow. Hopefully, it will also include another offer on this replacement home.

Now we are having some "real" fun...
