House Hunting Day

We had a great day yesterday visiting some homes in Sun City. There were a couple of them that we could very easily pursue with offers but we are hesitating to make any moves. The real reason is that we have the "big" contingency on the sale of our home which we hope will occur on April 2. Any offer that we would submit on a home would carry that contingency and, even though we are confident that it will go smoothly, folks that are trying to sell their homes will most likely not want to take their homes off the market until we are ready. We are certainly not in any position to make offers without the contingency on our home. Besides, we want to make sure there are no surprises, cash wise, in the sale of our home. We already have had the one surprise with the appraisal coming in short of the purchase price. Let it be known that there are some good buys in Sun City and we could easily become homeowners in that town.

We have also decided that we will stay here at Pioneer RV Resort until we make a move on another house. It may mean selling our RV first, or may not, but we have to make sure there is a solution for the RV. The Sun City RV storage facility does not have available space at this time and we would need to make sure there is an acceptable solution for that problem. It is also not feasible to go to Jackson without the ability to tow our fifth wheel. There is always the third party tow company - Bulldog Transport, for one - that can tow our rig there and back. The cost for that is too high to justify working only four months in the area. They are looking at two days each way at a cost of around $1800 each. With our going to a schedule of working only 4 days per week this year, it is tough to justify.

So, it is back to making sure the house sale goes smoothly and trying to devise a workable plan for the future...
