We thought Saturday was a slow day at work, but yesterday we were even slower. There were only a few check-ins, excluding the bus, and we had everybody checked in by about 7 PM last night. We worked with Donna again and our shift went fairly fast in spite of the slow activity at the front desk.
Yesterday also included more searching for bikes before work and we went to a couple bike shops in town to see what they had. The first stop was at a big bike shop in town that just reinforced our opinion that Jackson is probably not the place to buy our bikes since they cater to the high end, serious bike riders. Since we are only casual bikers, it is more difficult to locate the right bike at the right price. We stopped at our favorite treat location - DQ - in town and saw a bike rental shop nearby that we thought we would try even though they don't specialize in sales. The owner was very friendly and tried to help us zero-in on the right bike style that suits us. The net of that visit was that he would make some calls to see what kind of deals he can find for us through his business and will let us know what he can do.
Following that visit to the bike rental shop, we went to the DQ and ordered a couple Blizzards to take outside and eat in the park across the street. It was a beautiful, warm day and we sat at a table across the street in the park. The DQ is on the left:
We were sitting very close to a large geese family - or two - of recently hatched chicks:
The treat was great, the location was great and the weather was terrific.
Day number three of our work week is today and we are beginning to plan our days off, depending on the weather forecast. If we get good weather, we would like to do our first hike for the year. Right now, the forecast looks promising...
