What a beautiful day it was yesterday. We woke up to this view out our window:
We were very fortunate to have sunshine the whole day so the parade was especially fun to watch. Josie and I went early to the downtown area where we were able to grab the same seats we had two years ago near the judges station:
That's Josie on the top row with the cowboy hat.
The parade this year was a bit disappointing from the previous years we attended. There weren't as many bands, horses, interactive floats or other animals. There were, however, as many people giving out candy and other goodies to the kids along the street.
Just before the start of the parade there was an emergency behind us:
An elderly woman was taken by ambulance from the Town Square and this scene was just behind our location. It appeared that she was just overcome from the excitement.
These shots were taken of some of the parade floats. Notice the size of the crowd:
I won't bore you with more of the same.
We were planning to go to the gathering of our coworkers and friends from the Visitor Center to the fireworks at 10 PM. As the day progressed, I felt the beginning of a cold with a sore throat and nasal congestion and we felt that it would be wise to treat the cold rather than allow it to get worse. We therefore passed on the fireworks and went to bed early.
Of course, my day today will be centered around further treatment of my cold symptoms so we will just hang out here and try to get some chores done.
We hope everybody had a great day yesterday and were able to enjoy the kind of weather we had....
